Thirty-two graduating seniors at Eastern Connecticut State University had their artwork on display from May 4-15 at the Senior Art Exhibition, which took place in the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) Art Gallery.

Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its spring 2018 Dean's List for full-time students.

Lasell College held its 164th commencement on May 12, granting 398 Baccalaureate degrees and 125 Master's degrees, before an audience packed with family, friends, and members of the Lasell community on Taylor Field. Commencement speaker Donato Tramuto, president and founder of the nonprofit Health eVillages, shared with graduates his steps toward success with many stories from his own experiences growing up and becoming a corporate leader. The audience also heard messages from Lasell College President Michael B. Alexander, who addressed both undergraduate and graduate recipients. Alexander encouraged them to dream big and to embrace opportunities for personal and professional growth.

On May 12, Eastern Connecticut State University Social Work majors were inducted into Eastern's chapter of Phi Alpha, the national social work honor society.

Eastern Connecticut State University recognized the academic achievements of African, Latino, Asian and Native American students on May 5 during its sixth annual Inclusive Excellence Awards ceremony. Award were given out and more than 200 students were recognized for achieving GPAs of 3.5 or higher.

The instrumental performance featured the Eastern Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, and occured in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center.

Talented percussionists at Eastern Connecticut State University recently entertained audiences that included Eastern students, faculty, staff and local community members at Eastern's state-of-the-art Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) Concert Hall. The concerts included performances by Eastern's Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Group, World Percussion Ensemble, Korean Samul Ensemble and students in the Music Cultures of the World class. The concerts, which were presented on Dec. 3 and 7, were comprised of diverse and entertaining musical selections that featured timpani, snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, triangle and tambourine.

The Eastern Concert Band is a unique blend of musicians comprised of Eastern Connecticut State University students, faculty, alumni, local music educators and talented musicians from the greater eastern Connecticut area. Performance repertoire includes classic band literature as well as challenging works from contemporary composers.
