Eastern Connecticut State University's 125th Commencement took place at the XL Center in Hartford on May 12. In all, 1,130 undergraduates and 70 graduate students earned their degrees.

Fourteen student researchers from Eastern Connecticut State University presented in Spokane, WA, this past April at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research (NCUR).

Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Health and Physical Education held its annual honor society induction at the end of the spring semester. This year a number of Eastern HPE students were inducted into Alpha Upsilon Chi, the honor society that recognizes academic excellence and professional involvement in the disciplines of health, physical education, recreation, sport and dance.

Sixteen Environmental Earth Science (EES) students from Eastern Connecticut State University and three of their professors presented findings of their fieldwork along the Rhode Island coastline at the New England Intercollegiate Geological Conference (NEIGC). The conference took place in Oct. at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.

Eastern Connecticut State University released the names of full-time students who were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2014 semester.

In May 2014, 16 Easterm environmental earth science (EES) students took a 12-day field excursion throughout Arizona. The excursion, a three-credit summer course, brought the students to a number of national parks and geological wonders for an up-close look at the region's geology, geomorphology, natural resources, environmental science and Native American heritage.

The Psychology Department and Psychology Club at Eastern Connecticut State University co-sponsored the first ever Psychological Science Night on Dec. 10 in the Student Center. Through poster and oral presentations, the event showcased the undergraduate research of 60 students in Eastern's psychology program.

On Oct. 15, Eastern Connecticut State University hosted its annual Scholarship Reception in the Betty R. Tipton Room of the Student Center. The event brought together major ECSU Foundation scholarship donors and their respective student-recipients. This year, more than 325 scholarships were awarded, totaling more than $750,000 in financial aid to students of all backgrounds and academic majors -- both of these totals are Foundation records.

The Communication Department's annual Celebration of Excellence took place at the end of the spring semester. A number of students were inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society for communication.

Eastern Connecticut State University held its 14th Annual Arts and Sciences Research Conference and Exhibition at the end of the spring semester. The event featured oral and visual presentations of student-led scientific research and artwork. More than 50 presentations were delivered by students from a range of academic departments.

On June 17, the Connecticut River Academy at Goodwin College graduated the 88 members of the Class of 2014, its first full four-year graduating class. Many of the students were cross-enrolled at Goodwin College, taking college-level courses, and all students will go on to either higher education or employment training.
